Marco and I met online, and one of the first dating questions I asked him was where he was from. I soon learned that this gorgeous man was miles away from me, but by chance would soon be visiting my town! Back then, I had no idea what it was like to date someone from another country or how different it would be from dating local people. However, now I know, there are many differences when you’re dating internationally, especially if you’re not as lucky as I was and your date isn’t coming to your town.
The challenging side of falling in love with someone online from another country is that you might not get to meet them in person. Finding love overseas happens all the time, but not everyone is going to take the huge step of traveling for miles just to see someone they connected with online.
Luckily, Marco was planning to come here anyway before he met me online. If it wasn’t for that small fact, we might not have ever met, let alone become an international couple. However, Marco’s first trip was only a short one, and he had to go back to Italy quite soon.
